We are a family owned and operated business, and every door and screen we supply is made to measure rather than pulled off a shelf. That matters in older Cairns houses, where openings are rarely square and a stock size leaves gaps.
The work is manufactured in Cairns. SCREENGUARD aluminium frames use T6 grade high tensile extruded aluminium, manufactured and finished in Queensland in a range of colours, and the mesh is 316 marine grade stainless steel chosen for corrosion resistance.
We also look after what you already have. If a lock is jamming, a sliding door is jumping its track, or you want a pet door fitted into an existing screen, that is an onsite repair rather than a replacement.

Woven 316 stainless mesh answers that: it is fine enough to see straight through from inside, so a screened patio still reads as an open one. We replace lock cylinders and complete locks when a door will not close or a key jams, and we replace the wheels and track work on sliding doors that bounce, jam or jump the track. Door closers, hinges, triple locks and patio bolts are all replaceable, and a pet door can be fitted into a screen you already own.

How are your security doors tested?
SCREENGUARD stainless steel mesh doors are put through dynamic impact, knife shear, anti-jemmy, and pull and probe testing. PERFGUARD window grilles and hinged and sliding doors pass the same set plus a probe test, with the doors tested using three point locking hardware. Ask us for the current test certificate for whichever product you are considering and we will pass it on.
Why does security mesh need to be marine grade in Cairns?
We use 316 marine grade stainless steel mesh in SCREENGUARD screens. The 316 grade is specified for its corrosion resistance, which matters along the Cairns coast where screens sit in salt-laden air. The mesh is woven finely enough to keep a clear view outward, so you get protection without the bars or grills that block the view.
What is the difference between stainless steel mesh and Diamond Grille?
Stainless steel mesh is finely woven, so it keeps a clear view out through it. Diamond Grille uses a visible diamond pattern and is the more cost effective of the two. Both are security products and both are made to measure for the opening. The choice comes down to how much view you want against what you want to spend, and we can show you both at the measure.

Yes. Every door and screen is made to measure rather than bought off the shelf, and it is manufactured here in Cairns. What warranty comes with your security doors?
SCREENGUARD products carry a full 10 year manufacturer's warranty, and the warranty card is provided at the time of installation. Regular maintenance with SCREENGUARD Powawash is required to keep that warranty valid. PERFGUARD products carry a 7 year warranty from the date of installation. Conditions apply to both, and we will go through them with you.
Can you repair my existing security door?
Yes, and we repair onsite. The common jobs are replacing a lock cylinder or the complete lock when a door will not close properly or the key jams, and replacing the wheels or track work on sliding doors that bounce, jam, or jump off the track. We also replace door closers, hinges, triple locks and patio bolts.
What is one way vision mesh?
DVA one way vision mesh lets you see out while reducing visibility into your house from outside. It is a privacy mesh rather than a security product on its own, so it is usually combined with a Diamond Grille or Colonial Casting security screen when you want privacy and security in the same door or window.
